Examples Of Social Issues Affecting The Marine Corps

The growing absence of God in American lives has proven that life without Him can be detrimental to this country’s health. The United States has been instituted on the belief and trust in God. The Declaration of Independence mentions God 4 times. Even the nation’s 1st president, George Washington said “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable.” But over time, so many have taken God for granted by doing the exact opposite of what pleases Him, creating a void which subsequently causes social issues for many Americans. These issues that affect society will in turn likewise affect the Marine Corps. Social issues that plague this nation such as the overuse of social media, drug abuse and suicide will continue to spiral out of control and only get worse with the absence of God. …show more content…
Statista.com says that in 2008 only 24% of the U.S. population had a social media profile, but has increased to over 78% today. Also, over 4 hours a day is spent on social media, according to digitaltrends.com. That is a 3rd of the time a person is awake, considering we sleep for an average of 8 hours each day. This time vested in social media creates a distance from not only God, but any other relationship between family and loved ones. These are relationships that Marines should have and need to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Social media creates a void between God, family and loved ones, causing emptiness and a sense of no purpose. As technology such as computers, smartphones, and other smart devices continue to rise, real relationships continue to
