The Effects Of Running Water On Mars

Decent Essays
Have you ever wonder why there’s no running waters on Mars? Many of us might be questioning why we can’t survive on Mars; well, the main reason is there’s lack of air, oxygen, and importantly water. There are resources clarifying that there are water on Mars; however, the water are all frozen into ice. Scientist are discovering the reason that causes the water to turn into frozen ice. The article “Climate cycles may explain how running water carved Mars' surface features” written by Matthew Carrol describe the reason why and how running water left its mark on planet’s surface. According to the article, in the past there were studies suggested that asteroid impacts might be the causes of planet warming in which leds to raining, but researchers

Many have asked the question why doesn't Mars have oceans? A recent breakthrough discovery has confirmed that liquid water does exist on Mars. This means there is the potential for life to exist here. However, this water is very minimal compared to previous levels of water found on Mars. A study done by Geronimo Villanueva and Michael Mumma of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center reveals that Mars used to have at minimum…

THE MARINER PROGRAM Mariner 4 flew by Mars in July 1965 This was followed by Mariner 6 and 7 in 1969.The images sent back showed what appeared to be a geologically dead world. There was an abundance of craters much like the moon. It was also from these spacecraft that we learned that Mars' polar caps were made of Carbon Dioxide ice instead of water ice. In 1971, Mariner 9 flew by Mars and mapped the entire planet down to 1 km.…

Continuing that thought, Ice dragon is considered a dangerous payload because of its mechanics made for trouble instead of research to help humanity. Ice Dragon contains the possibility to fail in reentry on Mars, many say “the question is whether Dragon, which was designed for Earth reentry, can deccelerate and land safely in Mars’s thin atmosphere”(Karcz). Ice Dragon isn’t a potential threat, the success rate of the reentry is high and landing capsules has not been a problem when sending multiple rovers. The practice of entry has increased dramatically as NASA has developed the idea of how reentry works on Mars. The idea for Ice Dragon is to grasp samples of ice located on Mars, ice specifically because it is able to hold much history of…

Mars could have once harbored life. Some conjecture that life might still exist there today. In the past, oceans may have also covered the surface of Mars, providing an environment for life to exist. Although the red planet is a cold desert today, researchers suggest that liquid water may be present underground, providing a potential refuge for any life that might still exist there. Several studies have shown that there is abundant water ice beneath the…

Scientists have recently found liquid water on Mars, but it is mars atmosphere that creates a problem for intelligent life to live on the planet. Mars atmosphere severely lacks oxygen. Mars’ atmosphere contains ninety-five percent carbon dioxide, three percent nitrogen, and one and six-tenths percent argon (Exploring Life’s Mysteries). It has significantly lower pressure than Earth has. These factors would greatly impact any intelligent life form attempting to survive on Mars.…

We know that for it to rain, warm air has to evaporate water from rivers, oceans, pond, trees, etc, and then it transforms that water into condensation. Soon there will be enough condensation built up that we will experience rainfall, snow, and other types of precipitation. Around the world, we are experiencing a great increase in rain. Why is this? Why is our world constantly undergoing more precipitation than we were in previous years?…

Water Hardness EEI Water is a covalent molecule and is formed between one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms. This is because oxygen needs to gain two electrons to become like neon and hydrogen needs to gain one electron to become like helium so they share electrons for each hydrogen atom and the oxygen atom ‘consider’ that they have achieved the noble gas configuration. This covalent bond forms a bent shape in order to share the necessary electrons. Water has many unique properties, one of which has allowed life to continue to exist during the first ice ages millions of years ago on Earth: if ice didn’t have a lower density than water, the oceans would have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. The molecules in water have…

However, the Earth and Mars both have rich supplies of oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and carbon; Mars has these elements in the forms of nitrogen gas, carbon dioxide gas, and ice. What is infinitely more vital, however, is whether we would be able to transform these resources in such a way that we would then be able to actually inhabit Mars. There is an answer to this question, albeit untested. Using the process of a controlled global warming through a method called outgassing (Terrestrial), we would be able to terraform the planet to a point that biological life could thrive without the constant need for technology (Terrestrial). This process could make Mars very similar to the Earth in terms of its overall atmosphere, climate, and environment.…
