The phrase sexual assault had appeared up in society for a long time now. It is not just a phrase, but it is also an action that violates someone. It is also the cause for many campaigns to be created, so people can be informed and be aware of the problem. The big problem is a society called “rape culture,” which have a bad influence on people who use social media of any kind. A rape culture can be anything from a sex joke to pornographic videos (“Women’s Center”). North Carolina is a small state compare to the whole United States, but the statistic of sexual assault is not low. The act of sexual assault may end, but the lasting impact is yet to come. Some examples of picture and media of a rape culture are pornography, tweet message social media, exposure of body parts and explicit post in a magazine, movie and music video (“Rape Culture in Media”). All of the media and pictures is the starting that trigger someone sex drive to commit an assault. When men are using women as a sex object to release their suxual desire, when they got caught they will used an excuse to blame the victim saying “she asked for it!” (“Women’s Center”).
Not too many people are being informed of knowing what a “rape culture” is. People do not acknowledge that something that they may do or say in daily life is define in a rape culture. For example, an explicit joke about sex is considered to be a rape culture (“Women’s Center”). Not only did the victims getting assaulted, but they might also get unwanted diseases. Women victims are not only open to getting diseases, but they are also at risk for getting pregnant. Before 1973 abortion was illegal in the United States (How Did Abortion Become Legal?). However, now it is legal to have an abortion if women are pregnant as a result of raping. Some women keep the baby and after the baby born, they put the baby up for adoptions (Terzo). Pregnant, raped women are being judge really hard from society for keeping the rapist baby, but women feel that it is her baby, not the rapist (Terzo) . Even though the pregnancy was an accident, the abortion does not have to be on purpose. The baby cannot choose the birth mother, but the birth mother can choose to give the baby a life in this world, even if that meant without
