Many sources suggest that the most significant impact of prohibition was an increase in organised crime especially in city’s such as Chicago and New York. The killing took place because Al Capone wanted control of the North Side of Chicago’s liquor trade. The murderers disguised the killings as a police raid.Al Capone was conveniently in Florida at this time, so that the blame would not be shifted to him. This is significant because it changed the way in which people thought about Prohibition. Public support for prohibition was lost because people realised that all of these killings were going on for the control of illegal liquor trade.
