The pollution of the earth is an environmental issue. Each year, nine billion tons of litter end up in the ocean (King, 2013). The trash on the street gets blown or washed into storm drains, which all eventually lead to the ocean and other water sources (Flagstaff, 2015). This affects the marine animals and habitats, and the people are to blame for it. Animals die from the contaminated water because they think it is food, swallow it, or get tangled in it. The water should also be a concern for the people. The population of the world is increasing as well and the pollution. The fresh water sources are limited and polluting them is only going to make our problem worse. The water supply needs to be protected if we want clean and drinkable water in the future (NAOR, 2013). Pollution that is caused by the human population is harming the environment. Another part of the earth being affected with the environment is the natural resources. When people don 't recycle their cans, bottles, plastic, and glass more resources have to be used to create new cans and bottles (Flagstaff, 2015). This is wasteful of the sparse natural resources the earth has. Bottles and cans that are recycled can be melted down and used to make new ones without having to use any more material. Recycling is also a problem the earth is facing because not enough people do it and the resources are being wasted. Pollution is starting to become a problem with the health of the people. The air is being affected by pollution. Breathing healthy air is extremely important for a human 's respiratory system (APCD, 2016). Drinking and washing with uncontaminated, clean water is also important in the health of children and adults. To ensure the water and air is clean and a viable source for all people, the pollution needs to be controlled (NAOR, 2013). The garbage being littered is also not clean. It is full of germs that animals can pick up and spread around diseases (Flagstaff, 2015). There are ways to reduce the amount of pollution that is damaging the earth. The first simple solution to reduce pollution and make the earth cleaner is recycling. So many people just …show more content…
Littering is what pollutes the earth. Fast food wrappers and cigarette butts are the most commonly littered items and 50% of the time the litterer doesn’t even realize he/she is doing it (EPA, 2016). By throwing the trash in a garbage and bottle and cans in the recycle bin instead of out the window, the amount of pollution that is affecting our water sources and wildlife will decrease. This will also save time and money spent on trying to clean the litter up. Also, not only will using a garbage help, but if you come across a piece of litter, pick it up and throw it away (Flagstaff, 2015). Litter is the main source of pollution and it can be
