A benefit from physical activity is that it can decrease the chances of getting a disease. Most people overlook that being more active than what they are used, no matter what the current weight of person is, can prevent or decrease the risk of many diseases such as: strokes, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and depression ( "Physical Activity and Cancer."). In fact, “Several studies also have reported links between physical activity and a reduce of cancer of the prostate, lung, and lining of the uterus, (endometrial cancer),” ( "Physical Activity and Cancer."). All these benefits from just doing physical activity is being ignored because, “More than 50 percent of Americans” do not engage on doing physical activity on a regular bases ( "Physical Activity and Cancer."). It is a serious threat to just not society but the future of it; kids and teenagers are the future of the world and they need to be functional to move around and be able to be productive. The future generation needs physical activity to enjoy a healthier and better life. In fact, “less than 3 in 10 high students get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day” ( "Physical Activity and Health.”), which that means that three of the students have a decreased chance of getting a disease than the seven students that do not engage in physical activity at all. The brain is one of the most important--and arguably the most complex--organs in the body, and without the brain functioning correctly, the body will malfunction. As strong as it is, the brain is also the most vulnerable and it is just as fragile at is almost made up 60 percent of fat (Chang). Quite ironically it 's pretty fat but no worry with that because the fats that are on the brain are fatty acids that are crucial molecules to help it perform its integrity and ability to work (Chang). Essential fatty acids (EFAs), particularly omega-3 acids are the most important thing to help the brain to development during the fetal and postnatal period (Chang). Physical activity really protects from terrible diseases that are really common like Alzheimer 's Disease. Alzheimer is a problem that causes memory loss, thinking and behavior problems (Alzheimer 's Disease & Dementia). Physical activity can lower the chances of developing Alzheimer 's or another kind of mental illness by exercising several times in the week up to 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity (Mayo
