“More than 30% of children ages 6 to 11 are overweight, and over 15% are obese,” this can be helped if every child engages in physical activity. Physical Activity simply means the movement of the body that uses energy (Choose MyPlate). It ranges from swimming, walking, jogging, dancing, weight lifting, and even doing chores. People have different reasons to choose the journey to a better life. Physical activity is a way of life; it has been used by athletes to prepare for their next event, but the average person uses it to stay in shape and maintain or regain health. It is important for people to develop healthy lifestyle habits, including exercise, in childhood and continue to practice these habits throughout their developmental year. In order to help promote healthy exercise habits in children and young adults, all public schools should offer athletic activities. Having these activities improves health, promotes a healthy brain, and encourages good social skills. The benefits of physical activity range from losing weight to staying in shape to stress relief. A benefit from physical activity is that it can decrease the chances of getting a disease. Most people overlook that being more active than what they are used, no matter what the current weight of person is, can prevent or decrease the risk of many diseases such as: strokes, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and depression ( "Physical Activity and Cancer.").
