The weather affects crops around the world, and while people say that places need to plant indigenous crops for them to thrive in their environment, those crops can still fail; …show more content…
Pesticides are the only toxic substances released intentionally into our environment to kill living things. This includes substances that kill weeds (herbicides), insects (insecticides), fungus (fungicides), rodents (rodenticides), and others. Planes are used to release the heavy duty bug repellent on the plants. Through research and study, environmental scientist have discovered that spraying the pesticides are one of the main causes of honey bee deaths and other necessary animals. Also the pesticide runoff goes into the soil and water making them toxic, harmful and very hard to clean up. With inserting the genes into crops that repel the insects, the GMOs are helping the environment tremendously. The mutations in the crops are deadly to insects, but have very little to no effect on humans. Large sums of people will debate that the GMOs are bad for people and that there are side effects, such as headache, stomach ache, and toxin build up. The concerns of the genetically modified food is understandable, but scientists have done multiple studies. As Norris shows in her article, there is no link between bodily mutations and GMOs, also that fertility and pregnancy is not affected by GMOs. Though the concern of modifying crops genetically grows every year, scientists have shown that the GMOs are not only helping the environment, but keeping
