According to several studies including ______ and ______, the first few years in a child 's life are known to be most critical. It is a time where the child is most vulnerable in MIMICKING the actions of what is being introduced around them. Because of the early parental age, my mother said how this was a big factor on things such as home attendance, and the lack of school involvement. In the article The Effects of Parental Employment and Parental Leave on Child Health and Development, "Maternal employment during a child 's first year appeared to negatively affect subsequent cognitive tests scores and was associated with increases in behavioral problems"(Ruhm). Which is in fact true because my mother said "Your brother didn’t like school, the moment he turned sixteen he was already looking for jobs he liked and when he was twenty he and his girlfriend at the time had a baby of their own"(Carranza). HOWEVER A child 's education lies heavily on their mental state of being. If a child feels that they are stable enough to pursue an education because of the involvement from their parent 's, than the child will want to continue to grow and do good. Levitt and Dubner forget that the root problem in unsuccessful educational habits evolve around the parent 's absence within the child 's early years, this effects the child 's need to feel wanted to needed. "For most children to succeed in school, their parents’ interest in their learning is of paramount importance. But this interest ought to be with what happens on a daily basis, because this is how the child lives, and this is how he understands his life. The essential ingredient in most children’s success in school is a positive relation to his parents.”
