Nurture is the environmental factors which are the origins of our behavior. In the book In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, Nancy Clutter, daughter of Herb and Bonnie Clutter, was more nurtured than natured unlike her brother, Kenyon. Nancy watched as her father helped others and decided she wanted to help others too. She helped others with many different areas of expertise; for example, pie baking and trumpet lessons. Nancy also watched as her older sisters stepped up after their mother became mentally ill. She watched them enough that when they moved out she took their place without any real problems. With nature being the hereditary traits, such as: skin color, eye color, hair color, height, etc. and nurture being the environment around them and if they are encouraged and cared for. They both play major roles for children’s growth and really do go hand in hand in many ways, like: when nature impacts the positive and negative traits while nurture improves positive and diminishes negative, it shows how they really do balance each other out and how one would not work without the other. Also when it comes to talents, the talent may be hereditary, but the child will have a higher chance of having that talent expand if they are encouraged to go out and practice. There are also many ways that show that nurture is more important and more of a major role in a child’s growth like: when the child is around a more positive environment and is really watching the people around them do more positive activities, it may encourage them to also do those activities.
