This organization understands the importance of music education both in and out of school. They also believe that the children need direct exposure to music education in order to benefit from these experiences. This non-profit organization is very unique because all members are volunteers. The Mockingbird Foundation was established in 1996 by fans of the band “Phish” to show appreciation for the inspirational aspects of their music. Their preamble states, “Music is a universal expression of the human spirit; a basic human need. It allows us to communicate our deepest ideas and feelings; to explore and preserve our cultural heritages; and to celebrate the realms of emotion, imagination, and creativity that result in new knowledge, skills, and understanding. Therefore, every individual should be guaranteed the opportunity to learn music and to share in musical experiences” (National, 2016). This is the mindset that the nation needs to have in order for change to occur. At a national level, sufficient funding for every school needs to be provided in order to establish a well developed music program. Funding however, is not the only factor in providing children with a quality music education. A huge part is parent support, which is why every school should also have a Music Boosters Club. The Music Boosters are currently present at many schools. This association is currently at Central York School District. The Music Boosters consists of parents whose children are involved in chorus, band, or orchestra. They help with fundraising in order to provide support and enhancement for the music programs at Central York. This association should be implemented in all schools to ensure parental support (“Central York”,
