Marijuana is a drug that helps to stimulate a form of euphoria and usually lasts for around 2-6 hours, depending on how much Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) the person has consumed. However, through urine tests it is said that the drug can still be detected up to 13 days, and regular smokers 45 days. It was first originated thousands of years ago in Asia and at that time, it was widely used for medical and spiritual purposes. An example is that the Vikings and medieval Germans used Marijuana for relieving pain during childbirth and for toothaches. (Agata Blaszczak-Boxe, 2014) Both hemp and psychoactive marijuana were widely used in ancient China. (Bryan Hill, 2015). Although it was mostly used as a medical drug, it has been deemed recently as an ‘evil drug’ due to thinly veiled racist fears of its smokers and is often disseminated by counterrevolutionary newspapers. …show more content…
Marijuana is a commonly abused drug due to its effects. As the tolerance builds up, marijuana can lead people to consume drugs that are stronger to achieve the same high. When the effects wears off, the person will turn to more influential drugs. Marijuana itself does not lead the person to the other drugs: people take drugs to get rid of unwanted situations or
