Medical and psychological research has been done on the negative health and mental effects marijuana has on individuals, especially adolescents. According to the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, some negative short-term effects of marijuana include “panic, anxiety, poor coordination, and lowered reaction time” (“Short- & Long-Term Effects of Marijuana”). Supporters of the legalization of marijuana may argue that effects such as panic and anxiety are effects that most individuals who smoke or consume weed for the first time experience. Although, I believe that should not be the case, I am a big believer that any substance that is consumed by an individual should not have a negative side effect on body; such as experiencing a panic or anxiety
