Persuasive Essay On Diabetes

Dailee danielson once said, “Diabetes is like a roller coaster. It has it’s ups and downs, but it’s your choice to scream or enjoy the ride.” So many teens had to deal with not having sweets during their childhood and still are. Imagine that! Juvenile diabetes is when your pancreas produces little or no insulin and you can’t get glucose from your bloodstream into your cells. You become thirsty and hungry. You lose weight and become weaker. To treat this you have to take insulin in an injection. All of this impacts your life in a huge way. I know as a kid, I love sweets and would hate to not be able to have them.

This disease that is yet to be cured. Juvenile diabetes, also known as Type 1 diabetes is a disease that usually affects children and young adults. It happens when your pancreas produces little or no insulin, which is not good. From our bloodstream our bodies get glucose and without insulin you then can’t get glucose from the blood stream and into the cells. Furthermore there are different extremes of Type 1 diabetes. A teen with Juvenile Diabetes is most likely will have some type of insulin pump on them at all times. When it comes to lunch if the teen has the insulin pump they have to type in the number of carbohydrates in their food that they are eating. Also they can’t have sugary items in their meal like candy. A teen with Juvenile Diabetes doesn’t usually look different, except that they have the insulin pump and sometimes will be really skinny. Also on occasion someone with juvenile diabetes will have mood swings. Other than that they look and act about the same as anyone else. It is a disease, but now that we know so much about it. Also, there is not just bad things about having juvenile diabetes, there are good things too. Most people become smarter, take on more responsibility and grow up
