Clinton administration's proposal in the early 1995 to increase the minimum wage renewed interest in the question of how job creation would be affected. The president's proposal came at a time when academic interest in the effects of the minimum wage on employment was rekindled by David Card and Alan B. Krueger. Labor market specialists have done research on the effects of the minimum wage and all had different views about what the evidence shows, they also disagree about how apparent differences in results should be interpreted. Proponents of the new view of minimum-wage effects have been sharply critical of much of research found that underline the cause if minimum should be raised or not. The argue that their research evidence showing no effects on employment calls just a modest revision of the estimated size of minimum wage effects, but a reassessment of the labor market theories underlying the conventional view.
