Sanchez and M. Sanchez does not include any information about birthright citizenship or anchor babies, it does not even include any counter arguments. Because of the lack of counterarguments within the article, it is difficult to believe whether it makes valid arguments. Unlike H. Sanchez and M. Sanchez, Brown does include a counterargument in her article. Besides the negative effects of illegal immigration, Brown adds in a couple of positive effects illegal immigration has on the United States of America. Brown states that some people view the presence of illegal immigrants as an economic benefit to America and those areas include taxes, consumption, and laborers (3). Illegal immigrants contribute to consumption by spending money on food, clothing, and other goods which benefit parts of the U.S. economy. They also contribute with laborers, because illegal immigrants usually are willing to do the work other people avoid and for much lower wages. For example, in Zong’s and Batalova’s article they incorporate the percentage of foreign-born workers in occupations that native born workers are less likely to do. “Foreign-born workers make up 25 percent of services, 15 percent of transportation, and 13 percent of construction and maintenance, while native-born workers only make up 17 percent in services, 12 percent in transportation, and 8 percent in construction and maintenance” (Zong and Batalova 9). Though all three were very informative, there was one article that was the most convincing. “The Effects of Illegal Immigration on Organizational Efficiency and Effectiveness: A United States Analysis” by Loren W. Brown had the best arguments and counterarguments. With each argument there was a significant amount of evidence to demonstrate its point of view. It also provided a counterargument, in which she stated facts about illegal immigration having positive effects. This article included a variety of different results caused by illegal immigration, unlike the article written by Heliodoro Sanchez and Mary Sanchez which only discussed one major effect of illegal immigration. One aspect that each article did encompass is that they had a similar tone and style. Both articles were written with a factual and formal tone, which lets the reader know that this topic was very important.
