In order for the Earth to sustain us, it needs three essential things: healthy plant life, temperature regulation and atmospheric regulation. Throughout human history, we have relied on these processes to function. This is not a perfect world; however, one can only take and use so much without there being an impact.
Since the Industrial Revolution, humans have been abusing resources and polluting the environment mindlessly and it has had a serious effect: global warming. Global warming, defined as: “the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants.” This temperature increase will have a much more drastic impact than one might think. To be more specific; global warming will have a major ecological, economic and medical impact on Canada.
Before you understand the impact of global warming, you most look at the process that is driving it. Greenhouse gases are an accumulation of gases, especially carbon dioxide, which contribute to a temperature increase by absorbing infrared radiation. Greenhouse gases are not bad on their own.
