Nigers economy once strong and stable enough to sustain its population, is now slowly deteriorating. Niger has one of the world 's fastest growing population growth rates. Then there’s that poor infrastructure and frequent weather disasters; which add on to the economic hardships Niger faces. When it comes to natural resources other than uranium and oil, they are limited. Also, due to government corruption, the distribution of the wealth is unequal. Chart 1a shows the distribution between 2004-2016; besides it Chart 2a shows the fertility rate from 1960-2015. When first looking at these charts you can automatically see the connection. As the fertility rate rises, the economy weakens and is less able to help better the lives of the Nigeriens. According to Quandl a statistical data server it can concluded that the continuous population growth is setting the economy into a downward spiral that could possible at one point reach a point of no return (Quandl p.1). The economies are not able to maintain and keep up with the population. As for solutions, the first step would be taking control of the growth. Placing laws that limit women to the amount of births they can have, at least until things are under control. Although these woman have the right to bear as many kids as they please, fertility rates have reached a dangerous zone and taking control of it, is the one way to help restore the economy. Education systems should be strengthened and promoted to all young woman, which would lower the cases of child marriages; for parents give away their kids due to economic hardships. As for the environment various actions must be taken. The main one being finding alternative resources that are able to provide energy. Also, governmental actions need to be in place to help better the health care systems in developing nations. At the end of it all, there is a lot that needs to be done.
