This alone, poses many weight, sleep, social, and psychological problems. Children’s social, psychological, and physical health benefit when they have numerous daily interactions with nature. For example, NCS also went on state, “[exposure to nature] Supports creativity and problem solving, enhances cognitive abilities, improves social relations, and reduces stress” (NCS, 2). Students need creativity and problem solving skills to perform at high levels in workplaces all across the world. Developed cognitive abilities through exposure to nature will train students on how to make decisions from the most simple to highly complex. The influx in obesity among students, may not just be a eating thing, lack of exposure to nature and outside activities pose a threat to maintaining student health as well. Going outside, and experiencing nature should not just include recess, it should also include learning activities, especial in the natural science classes. Daily Mail reported that, “more that half of Americans (54 percent) have never traveled outside of the U.S. and 35 percent admit that they do not even own a passport” (Peppers, 2013). Studying abroad, preferably starting as early as kindergarten, will expose students to other cultures, different languages, and provide students a more enhanced view of the world through a different lense. An article published by the Huffington post and written by Carol Carter stated, “[Lack of exposure and language barriers]” as two of the top reason that low income students are not succeeding in school (Carter, 2013). It has shown true that studying abroad not only gives students an opportunity to see more of the world, but it also exposes them to different teaching styles of education, new cultures, enhanced language skills, and more career opportunities for the future. These are skills that enhance catalyze student intellectual growth. A website entitled The International Student stated, “Studying abroad grants you the opportunity to completely immerse yourself in a new language” (International Student, 2015). It is clear that students being exposed to foreign lands is highly beneficial to the student and their productivity for their home nation.
