Hypnosis can help "a patient experience posthypnotic alterations in perception, sensation, emotion, thought, and/or behaviour" (Horowitz, 2006, p. 86). Hypnosis has shown benefits in other fields such as relaxation and quit smoking to name but a few. There are different forms of hypnosis techniques available these are "conventional, Ericksonian, neurolinguistic programming, and age-regression hypnosis" (Horowitz, 2006, p. 86). It may provide the patient some relief and further studies into hypnosis is essential. Used in conjunction with ToM, therapy and pharmacological treatments, which can be tailor-made to the needs of 'each individual ', may bring about change. This could bring huge benefits to those suffering from command hallucinations and possibly a long-term solution. To start, the patient is to begin a simple relaxation hypnosis that they can take home and listen to it nightly for three weeks.
