When you hear the term domestic violence, what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many, when they hear that term they automatically assume that someone was physically abused, but that is not always the case. Domestic violence does not discriminate, and comes in many forms such as physical, emotional, sexual, physiological, and economical. With the numbers of domestic violence so high, it is very likely that every single one of us knows someone who has been a victim of domestic violence. With this epidemic, we as a country need to find a way to help these victims and stop domestic violence. Some people seem to get the wrong understanding of it if they have never witnessed, or fell victim to it. People need to understand that domestic violence is a big problem and if people try to understand it, it will be a real eye opener because it will let them know that some of the things that they believe are true, are actually false. The first step in trying to stop domestic violence is being able to understand the problem itself, understand what the women are going through, and why some victims do what they do. This nation is not trying to help stop domestic violence like we should. Many people from older generations to this day, still believe that domestic violence is a private matter and should not be made public. Others would just rather not be a part of the situation thinking they are just minding their own business. What these people need to know is that it is a big deal, and this country needs to promote more awareness. We need to look for more solutions to help the victims instead of blaming
