If a child is male then when he grows up then he will apply the same rules on the women in his life and most likely not respect them. Consequently if the child is a female then she will most likely endure all the pain caused by men in life because her mother had to go through the same thus she will consider it a norm. Since a very young age we are asked to follow the footsteps of our parents, it is likely that the children, despite any age with repeat the actions of their parents. If the father is trying to condescend his wife infront the child then it is likely that the child will imitate the action in the years to come and will have negative impression of women. Thus this will become a norm and this vicious cycle will keep continuing over the generations. However, this is not the norm and children need to understand that. Domestic violence is a violation of human rights. Article 1 of Fundamental Declaration of Human Rights states that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” (Fundamental Declaration of Human Rights). This preamble has been in place since 1948, but clearly the prevalence of domestic violence in Englewood is a major violation. Why is the preamble not being enforced by the local mayors nowadays? Furthermore, Article 25 states that “All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection” (Fundamental Declaration of Human Rights). Again, witnessing domestic violence and not knowing the difference between right or wrong due to lack of exposure to the reality is not considered to be a “social protection”(Fundamental Declaration of Human Rights). Chicago Tribune states that there were 349 domestic assaults per 1000 population in Englewood over the course of 1 year (Englewood). This is a significantly large number considering around 35 % of the women population
