For the last 40 years, the quantity of children, who have been affected by divorce, incredibly increased. The truth is that family institute is undergoing global changes, unfortunately not in the positive direction. This is the last chance for us to stop and ask ourselves: what is next? This paper will cover the reasons of growth in the number of the divorced families and the psychological impact of divorce on children under the age of eighteen all the way through adolescence and on to adulthood. Indeed, how often do we think about our future when we fall in love? Do we often think about children when we are dating for the first time? It is a usual thing when people fall in love, they forget about anything. They live together, marry, and plan to have children and have them. Nevertheless, one day the daily routine of family life becomes unbearable and a couple does not want to be together anymore. However, who cares about children? According to the scientific researches, we can confidently state that divorces are really harmful to children. With this paper, I would like to encourage all of us to study this problem more thoroughly and not only to think about this phenomenon but also to do everything that we can to improve the situation! First, people should think about the marriage very seriously, before deciding to have a child, because if the love is in vain, children are not guilty, they should not be the victims of parental quarrels. However, if it happens, parents should explain the child everything in the understandable for him or her language. From my personal point of view, it should be neither quiet divorce nor the emotional fighting. It is obvious, that divorce cannot end without any consequences. I agree with the opinion of Rappaport that there exist the harmful short-lasting or in any cases long lasting post-divorce effect on a child. Anyway, there will be at least short-lasting negative influence on child’s psychology, but it is possible for parents to make it lower, and they should. From my point of view, the biggest mistake of parents is the attempt to live with the spouse together for the love of a child. Such couples have been destroyed, the relations have ended, but these parents try to create the appearance of love and well-being. In fact, they just lie not only to each other
