A dangerous habit is developing in the United States and it is spreading rapidly, it is well known as texting and driving or just distracted driving. Each day in the United States, more than 9 people are killed and more than 1,153 people a year are injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver. Due to distracted driving automobile companies such as BMW, Tesla, Mercedes, and Google have begun building self-driving cars. Which they would allow people to do whatever they would like to do in their time in the car. But I have imagined a device that would disable any distracting devices (electronics only), and it would release a EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) and it would only be in use if you were inside of the car. So the effect is done by one person and it really effects everyone about how that one person chooses how to drive and if they will be distracted or …show more content…
It seems as if people are becoming less aware of what they are doing to the world once they take a look at the small little device that could put them in jail for a very long time. So my great idea was to make a EMP device that would disable the cellphone or anything distracting in the vehicle, once the car exceeds the speed of 10 MPH. And my other solution was to have a self-driving car because people are not paying attention while they are driving and the car would do all of the work. So people need to bring to mind while they are texting and driving and they kill someone with a car they will be going to jail anywhere from 15-20 years. And these people are putting this little device in front of their whole life practically, because they are willing to go to jail for a very long time for the

There is a reason why it is illegal in 38 states for civilian drivers to text and drive. Every second a person is texting, their eyes and attention are not on the road, and every second that their full attention is not on the road, anything could happen. Not only do they have to drive responsibly, but they must be prepared to react to the unexpected, a child running across the street, a car pulling out of a parking spot quickly. Anything could happen, and even if it wasn't technically the driver's fault, these fatal accidents could have been completely avoided if the driver had been paying…
