A fence was built around the entirety of the camp, and had branches interwoven through it. This fence was made not only to keep those who were captured inside, but was also made to prevent passengers at the station of seeing into the camp (“Death Camp”). The amount of dreadful things that must have happened at Sobibor to make the Nazis build the fence is truly terrifying. Due to the Nazis planting trees and destroying the camp, there is a miniscule amount of information that can be obtained by going to where the camp once laid. The only things left at Sobibor today are signs, and a house or two. All the mysteries of Sobibor have yet to be discovered, but hopefully they will be revealed in the near future. Although still very mysterious, the area of Sobibor has become more known. There is excavation being done on a regular basis to hopefully find more information on the infamous death camp that was Sobibor (“Extermination Camp”). Sobibor was truly a monstrous operation of death and sorrow, and although all that is left at the sight of Sobibor is an excavation operation, there will always be memories there that lie close to hearts. Those who fell to the horrible fate of Sobibor will be remembered dearly, and forever missed.
