Every child is different parents raise kids on the path they want them to go. Parents have and will always heavily impact the way the children look at the world and others. In the movie Bend It Like Beckham, Jesminder “Jess” is a soccer player who wants to play soccer professionally , she usually only plays in the park, but when Coach approaches her and tells her about playing serious soccer but her problem the way she was raised. For example, while having a conversation with a girl from the soccer team, she yells “Indian girls aren't supposed to play football!”( Chadha Beckham ) She also goes on to explain how she can only marry certain boys she says “It's just culture. That's all. Better than sleeping around with boys you aren't going to end up marrying?
