Global Climate Change Research Paper

In order to understand the effects that Global Climate Change has had on weather we need to first understand the difference between weather and climate. Weather is what is happening in the atmosphere, on a given day and location. Examples of such include temperature, wind, and precipitation. On the other hand, climate is more of a broad, generalized condition that covers a region during a longer period of time. Examples of such include warm, cold, wet and dry. In the past decade, with only a two-degree rise in temperature, there has been an increase in extreme weather. These steps can reduce the chances that the worst-case scenarios will happen. The worst-case scenario that is also referred to as the “doomsday scenario” is the result if the greenhouse gases escape from below the permafrost. The permafrost is frozen soil that spans large areas of the Northern hemisphere. Underneath the permafrost holds a huge amount of greenhouse gases. The permafrost has shown signs that it is thawing, which would result in a huge release of these harmful gases. In order to prevent this from happening we need to limit the amount of warming that will occur. We have the choice to do this, and we are the driving force behind it. Limiting the amount of warming that will occur is only possible if we change our behavior. This involves changing our behavior, as we need to become driven, educated, and not in denial about the current realties that we are facing. Yes, we can change our light bulbs, buy hybrids, place solar panels on our houses and dig the geothermal wells. These are all important steps that we can take but the real change we need to make is changing the laws. In order to do this we need to speak up, change our democracy. We have a democracy and we need to have an appreciation that we have the opportunity to change our future. Doing this requires becoming active citizens. In order to do so we need to connect with people, inform ourselves, and most importantly realize the sense of
