The reviewed literature points to some degree of a relationship between climate change and violent conflict in Africa. However, the majorities of studies, especially those in West Africa employed descriptive research methods. This type of the investigation method, as we know it, do not make accurate predictions and do not determine cause and effect. Additionally, the vast majority of the literature heavily uses civil war and political violence datasets, as the dependent variables, which may be missing the most important features of the accuracy, degree and severity of the impact of climate change on Africa’s security environment. The use of civil war and political violence datasets to capture the impact of climate change may produce misleading outcomes. Unlike civil conflict and political violence, climate-related conflicts are inherently spontaneous, and sporadic, mirroring the ebb and flow climatic conditions. Different from civil strife and political violence, climate-related conflicts may become intense during the drier …show more content…
For the dependent variable to accurately capture the dynamics of this dispute, one of the parties must initiate the conflict while the other is at the receiving end. At the center of the conflict is misunderstandings regarding resource (grazing field and farmland use). Other related skirmishes that do not capture this dynamic will not be reported in the study. Data for the dependent variable comes from different sources, including news from the local Ghanaian media. Relying on the local news sources, I will track all Fulani-farmer related conflicts occurring from 2006 to 2016. These conflicts are recorded based on the months in which they occurred. The rational is to map the conflicts to the average rainfall and temperature patterns, to see if there is a causal link between the emergence of these conflicts and climatic

In several respects, global climate change (GCC) represents new conditions. It is not just extreme events and changing rainfall patterns that have started to affect individuals in various parts of the world. There are also discussions in the political community regarding activities of mitigation and adaptation because of climate change. Decisions by others predict effects (by politicians regarding road toll systems, extra taxes on fossil fuel, etc.) even for those who are not personally concerned.…

Not only did his violent actions affect him after the war, they transformed him as a person, he lost 2 families because of the war, his actual family and his fellow brothers in arms. The war made him flee the country to the United States because he could no longer stay in Sierra Leone. This all has taught me that if you use violence it will change everything you perceive in life. It could make you more angry then you were which will make things worse because if you use violent actions against people eventually it will get you hurt or arrested and maybe even killed. Also, the consequences of violent acts can linger for years, give you nightmares and haunt you until you learn to accept what you have done.…

The novel, A Separate Peace, deals primarily with the internal conflicts of the protagonist Gene and the resulting external conflicts. John Knowles, the author, makes use of the extended metaphor of war to demonstrate the extent of Gene’s internal conflict. Additionally, by setting the novel in the midst of World War II the author furthers the comparison between what Gene was feeling and the actual war going on. However, Gene admits at the end of the novel that “[his] war ended before [he] ever put on a uniform; [he] was on active duty all [his] time at school; [he] killed [his] hero there.” Readers are greeted in the beginning of the book with Gene reminiscing about his time at Devon School.…

Violence and Diplomacy: The Success of an Empire As I am reading this book, I can see that very easily that violence and warfare had a major part in the overall rise of Islam. As per usual, back in the days in order to be wealthy, you had to own land, and to own land you either had to purchase it, or take it by force. Since money was no easy thing to come by, force was usually the easier option. There are three examples that stand out to me on this topic and the main one is that anyone who refused to convert to Islam were condemned to die. Second extortion was very important to the rise of Islam especially in the Tabuk Crusades, as it introduced a new way to conquer lands without losing followers or money.…

Does globalization make war more or less likely? 160009668 War has been an unavoidable human convention for thousands of years; whether it to be for land, religion, or ideology, mankind has almost always been in one conflict or another. But since World War II, inter-state war has declined during the process of globalization. Globalization is the economic, political, and social interconnecting of the world.
