The chronic sleep deprivation causes many issues. It was stated on the online site, Education week, in an article titled, “Sleep Deprived Teens,” a repetitive lack of sleep can be detrimental to an adolescent’s cognitive development causing both mental and emotional problems. Getting too little sleep can lead to; issues with problem solving, difficulty coping with stress, depression, and substance abuse. Another article published in Education Week, m“Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report” stated that sleep deprivation has also been linked to weight problems, often-times leading to either obesity or eating disorders.
