Due to school funding being depended on local property tax, students with disabilities may not receive FAPE, or Free Appropriate Public Education. In some cases, families may move to a different town in order for their child to receive FAPE. Personally, my family I moved when I was younger due to the lack of my school not properly accommodating my IEP, for Specific Learning Disability, SLD. As a future special education teacher, this concerns me and makes me think how student with a disability in the suburbs has more opportunities compared to student with disability who lives in city.
