Many will grow up as delinquents or with psychological disorders such as “depression” or antisocial personality disorder (Horan 13). From childhood to adulthood, child abuse has led innocent victims into violent behaviors, psychological disorders, and harsh parenting. Child abuse can influence violent behavior among children and adolescents. For example, both children and adolescents may become undesirables or delinquents. Undesirables would feel victimized by everyone, while delinquents cause harm upon others. Psychologist, Dr. Maguire states “… many school-aged children have experienced low self-esteem, poor academics, friendship complications, and suicide” (13)… One could imply that abusive parents discourage their children through humiliation and numerous punishments. Psychologist, Dr. Ehrensaft explains, “The parents’ actions would influence the victim to harm his or her own children in adulthood” (16-25)… Some individuals can make a positive change and others may change for the worse. Individuals can cope with child abuse by talking to a counselor or getting involved in prevention programs. The supporting services could motivate the next generation parents to become a great influence on society and their own children. However, child abuse may effect next generation parents in negative ways, such as drugs, alcohol, crime, and child abuse from previous parents. Dr. Cronley states “… Many abused victims experienced homelessness and engaged in criminal activity” (12)… The victims chose a negative path because they felt that their life was not going to improve for a greater change. They believed that society did not care for their well-being. The abused individuals used drugs and alcohol as an escape from reality. The child would become either a bully or a victim of bullying. He or she would find it difficult to associate with other individuals without judgment. Child abuse may bring many victims through life changing challenges that define their
