Fatty, chubby, plump, and tubby! There are various ways to insult a person’s weight. Some people are so big they have to buy two plane tickets on an airplane just so they have room. The growing weight of American people has become a major conflict, and can be resolved though proper diets, exercise, and positive encouragement. Are you aware of what obesity is? Obesity is an epidemic, a disease that spreads quickly and affects millions of people. Obesity’s victims often feel under pressure about losing weight and becoming healthy. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “during 1999–2000, 64% of Americans were overweight or obese, with 23% actually defined as being obese” (Kermani). Now a days obesity seems to be in, oppose to people being fit and healthy. Obesity is a disorder in which one has excess amount of body fat. “Nationally, the main problem appears to be that calorie-dense foods are easily available, which increases caloric intake, along with lifestyle changes, including reduced physical activity” (Kermani) This is becoming a bigger problem than what people realize it is, we have children younger than the age of five that are overweight.
