Those imperfections get noticed by certain people who have insecurities themselves and try to single people out to make themselves feel better, and sadly it does happen at Madera High School. Rumors, personality, appearance, cliques, and stereotypes, etc. are many causes to someone wanting to bullying another person. At MHS there has been numerous amounts of fights that all started with a simple comment made online or in class. It is always all the same, jealous girls starting rumors over the person they do not like or just because of a look that was given. 3 years ago at Madera High School at break two friends started fighting another girl for comments that went on online the previous day. Come find out later, it was because of a boy and words being said back and forth between the two girls and the other girl who got jumped. All three of the girls were suspended for their actions and later put on a contract to never start bullying like that again. The staff are aware that if a student comes to them about being bullied or harassed, there are steps to be followed. When something like this happens, Mr. Reyna, an Art teacher at MHS said in the survey “First we try to control it, second contact counselors of students involved, contact VP if it continues or becomes dangerous”. These are very good steps in reporting bullying or harassment, the problem there is some teachers do not always follow those steps or know these steps exist. That can become a problem when a student tries to report being bullied or harassed and the staff member does not know where to go after being told what happened. Since being a staff member at MHS 4 out of the 10 said they’ve seen bullying/harassment happen more than 10 times, with the other staff members saying they’ve only seen it once or twice. Leaving the other 2 staff members saying they 've seen it happen 6 to 8 times since being a staff member at MHS. The MHS administration are a very good help when it comes to this issue. Some students think that the staff does not care about them at all, and that they are just there to make students lives miserable. That is not true at all most staff have admitted to caring a whole lot more about their student than anything else. In the survey, the staff members were asking if there was any advice they
