Pride is a positive emotion associated with both prosocial and antisocial behavior (Wubben, De Cremer & Van Dijk, 2012): the former prosocial type is labelled authentic pride and the latter antisocial type is labelled hubristic pride. Authentic pride is experienced by an individual as a byproduct of hard work and success, and can contribute to the development of a genuine and deep-rooted sense of self-esteem (McFerran, Aquino & Tracy, 2014). Hubristic pride on the other hand is the form of pride associated with arrogance and narcissism (McFerran et al., 2014). Wubben et al.
