The United States dropped a nuclear weapon on the Japanese city, Hiroshima on the sixth of August, 1945. Three days later, the second atomic bomb was dropped on the civilian population of Nagasaki, Japan (Hiroshima & Nagasaki Remembered, n.d.). These occasions happened during the final stage of the Second World War. Thereafter, atomic bombings led to the terrible consequences: up to 129,000 people were killed, many other people were badly injured, and hundreds of thousands suffered the long-term impact of radiation poisoning (American History USA, n.d.). There were not only negative effects on human beings, but also on the environment. Nuclear attacks in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the first nuclear weapons which used against human targets in history. Since those two days, atomic bombings were avoided, however, the effects of nuclear weapons are forever hanging over us. It is obviously that the explosive power of modern atomic bombs much greater than those bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the scale of the devastation of modern ones would be seriously increased.
