In a TED talk titled “A roadmap to end aging” he displays his method of how we might be able to achieve this process. He first talks about how aging works in our body as of now. He explains that for most of our life we experience metabolism which eventually then causes pathology. Metabolism is the state in which our body runs homeostasis, keeping us alive. Pathology is the opposite; it is an anti-homeostasis network that works to kill us rather than keep us alive. So De Grey explains that in order to stop our metabolism from turning to pathology we must add an engineering approach. This approach would have no effect on our body regarding an evolutionary factor but rather just simple biological repairs. De Grey points out that there are seven things that have been found to be deadly towards our body. He also notes that we have found ways to reverse all the effects of these seven things allowing our bodies to stay youthful and age free. De Grey infers that if we really become serious towards this process that we could develop the therapies to combat all aging with in ten …show more content…
With more focused research on this topic we could see positive results within ten years, the biggest factor is our contributions towards the advancement of this research. People need to be willing to do this research and they should be because it will help them in the future. Less money needs to be spent saving the lives of those in their last year of life and more on extending life so that last year comes much later after a fulfilled life. Healthcare also needs to be controlled so that those who need or want the treatments pay for it themselves rather than relying on others through increased taxes. The sooner that we fix that systems the better it will help our future of healthcare and research. De Grey’s idea is one that needs to be heard and accepted because of the positive implications it has for the future. We always say that life is too short, it’s time to change
