The Importance Of ADHD In My Life

When given the assignment to write about any topic I immediately began brainstorming different ideas. I found it to be almost more difficult than when given a specific topic. I kept drawing a blank. I contemplated on writing about why I didn’t know what to write about but kept comparing that to “Story for Boys” which didn’t live up to the same expectation. I realized my topic to write should be about something I am very familiar with, a part of who I am. ADHD. I have ADHD and have had to deal with it my whole life. It has been a challenge for me. It has played a big part of my actions, my emotions and really my personality. Early on in my life ADHD made me feel down, not as good or as smart as others and not to mention all the other challenges that goes along with it. Though it’s not something I would ever choose to have my entire life I have found that it isn’t all bad. Learning that through the years has helped me not be ashamed of having ADHD.

I have learned at an early age to work hard on things that are important to me. It’s a give and take situation. I can take the medication and focus better in class but I will be less outgoing and run the risk of my body becoming increasingly more used to the drug. However, I could not take the medication and be creative and outgoing but I will miss important information and do poorly on assignments. Finding a balance will be the key to my success. Graduation looms ahead of me and is a scary thought. I worry about what kind of job will work best for me as I don’t think a boss will be as forgiving as my teachers and professors have been. On a positive note ADHD has prepared me for life’s challenges and has taught me to be a hard and creative worker and I am up for the
