The size of your hand with the impact of a nuclear bomb. Cell phones are overcoming the world and the usage of them continues to grow every year. With over 6.8 billion cell-phone subscriptions in the world most of these subscriptions fall in the hands of daily drivers (Fernholz, 1).Operating a cell phone while driving is not only illegal in some states, but it is also life-endangering. By banning cell phone usage while driving completely we are lowering the risk of deaths immensely.

While driving by yourself you would think the only person at risk of injury is yourself. This statement is untrue. For example, Chelsey Murphy, a resident of Florida, was attempting to cross an intersection. Withing the blink of an eye her life was taken from her along with another individual. Would you believe me if I told you that cannabis slows reaction time only by 21%? Or what if I told you that while being at the legal limit of drinking and driving your reaction time is slowed down to a merely 13%? This information is stating that operating a hand-held cell phone delays your reaction time more than drinking and driving! “ Studies estimate that the distractions caused by cell phone use while driving result in roughly 2600 fatalities and 330,000 injuries each year in the United States”, (Nodor, 242). Think about all the times that someone wasn’t willing to drive home within the legal limit, but on the average day they are willing to drive while operating a cell phones. Under no circumstance am I condoning the use of cannabis or alcohol while operating a motor vehicle, but the think of the damage that driving under the influence can do and then double it and that is the damage that using a hand hell cell phone can
