Technology In Classroom Research

For the project I decided to research the topic of technology in the classroom. Since I was little I have always wanted to be a teacher and since then technology has evolved to something humans are surrounded by daily. Whether one is at home, shopping, at school, or at work technology plays a major role in the daily lives of people today. As a future teacher I want to know how to prepare the young children in my classroom for the technology of their daily life. I want to be able to incorporate technology into their learning and make learning something my students love to do. So many kids these days hate going to school; I want my students to look forward to coming to school. As I began to do my research I wanted to find some statistics to wrap my head around how technology plays a role in parent’s and teacher’s lives. Working in child care I have found that so many of these young children (under the age of 5) know how to use smartphones and that blows my mind. Therefore these children expect to be entertained by this kind of technology everywhere they go. That is why I chose to do research on the technology tools I have available to use in my future classroom. In my project I have included technologies I can use with parents, with students in elementary school, and …show more content…
I found out the using technology captures the attention of your students and the students are more driven to think more critically. I think this is because the students are excited to learn and think learning is fun due to the innovation of technology. My hopes as a future teacher are to have students who are ready to learn, have fun at school, and are able to retain what they have learned. I hope my students go home excited to tell their parents what they have learned and I believe with the continuous evolution of technology this is

Jacie, I understand that you need help with finding ways to use technology to help the students that you work with. In my last class, EDCI 516 Reading in Content, we discussed and researched sources and websites that teachers can use as a tool to help improve, practice, and review site words, spelling words, reading comprehension, and mathematical skills with their students. I, myself, was not very familiar with technology and the utilization of it in a grade school classroom. After taking EDCI 516 and practicing using the Google search engine to locate web-based resources that I can use to work with elementary students, I now feel more comfortable using technology in a classroom setting.…

Due to the latest technologies, teachers need to change the way they assess students in order to uphold academic integrity. I want to introduce teachers to using technology for practical purposes while helping students capitalize on their creativity and individual uniqueness. Using technology for some practical purpose, and not for the sake of using technology, must be the clear objective. New technology learners are exposed at an early age. It’s important for teachers not to focus on integrating technology too much instead of focusing on learning in the classroom environment.…

What I found puzzling was that, many students don't view the advancement in technology as an advantage to boost their education, but often technology sidetracks them without even knowing it. For example, students can do so much more with education now due to the promotion of technology we have, but sometimes advancing means distractions such as social media. Although technology can be good and bad I think it mainly depends on how you use and manage…

For my final PowerPoint project, the topic I chose is how technology affects a child's social and brain development. This is relevant to Developmental Psychology, because in the last 10 years or so technology has consumed our lives. Children at the age of 2 already can use most tablets and cells phones before they can read, if early childhood is when children are "sponges" how is using technology affecting the way they learn . Also older children who have been using this technology since the age of 1 or 2 how do they interact with other kids their age after always being glued to a tablet. I chose this topic because the video we watched when the semester began stuck with me, children can learn so much at such a young age and I began to think…

As teachers we have to equip our students to live in this kind of world. According to Sousa, “…children who spend their early years in front of screens will eventually have adult brains that are hardwired to process information at a frantic pace” (Sousa, 679). Technology has many positive aspects, but often gets a bad rap. According to Wedlock & Growe, “The problem is that technological innovations need to be transformed from tools of obsession into tools of education”…

Child Development and Technology Technology is exposed to children everyday, whether it is at home or in a classroom setting, it is all around them. It allows children to process and understand new information that cannot be done through an individual. Technology has had a dramatic impact on education and allows children to develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. Sometimes technology can be a disadvantage because it causes less social interaction with our peers, and a difficulty in being emotionally open. Another issue is obese children.…

Students in this generation are known as digital natives because they have grown up with technology within their lives and are able to manipulate it well (Coviello, 2013). Technology is a great additive within every classroom because it can be manipulated to include every student in the classroom as well as the teacher. Technology can be arranged to fit any lesson plan and can also improve engagement because it something that children use on the daily basis within their homes. Being able to manipulate technology in school helps to boost motivation within students who are used to manipulating technology outside of the classroom. The classroom arrangement that best fits this method is one that a future teacher can and will be using within their own classroom.…

One of my favorite ways to use technology to engage students is through videos and songs to help them grasp difficult or unfamiliar concepts; this could be a rap about the Pythagorean theorem or a short film on life in Nazi Germany during World War II. Providing students with visual and auditory input in addition to traditional learning styles allows children of multiple intelligences to find aspects of the lesson they connect with and use that as a basis for their understanding. Another way that technology can be used in the classroom is through taking virtual field trips to far away places. Many museums around the world are now offering the opportunity to walk through their exhibits and experience everything they have to offer without ever leaving the school grounds. This is a great option for schools that are limited in the funds they have to take elaborate field trips or who are located in a community without art galleries and museums to take their students to.…

With forty-eight percent of families living with children ranging from ages 2-17 owning at least the four entertainment staples; television, VCR, computer, and video games; It’s no surprise that technology is impacting the development of children in this new modern era (Woodward and Gridina). As the effects of technology’s impact on the growth of children is brought to light, it is time to take control and insure its positive use in society. Technology is limiting the growth of the essential categories of positive development in children: psychological, physical, and social development. Technology is decreasing parent to child interactions, which play one of the largest roles in the psychological development of a child, especially within the first years of their life. A child’s positive…
