This experiment helped the team to get a better grasp on what conditions affect solar panels and which ones are able to work best and most efficient. With the rise of popularity and technology of solar panels it’s important to understand which conditions affect the efficiency of the solar panel. The conditions tested on the solar panel were various applied resistances, power output between a flat solar panel and “fisheye” solar panel, incident light angle,and efficiency of each solar panel. The maximum power output was obtained when the resistance on the panel was 10 ohms. Both solar panels generated the most power when the panel’s were perpendicular to the light source. The “fisheye” solar panel was less sensitive to the angle changes of the …show more content…
If you live in a cloudy environment, this can hinder the efficiency and worth of a solar panel as it cannot generate as much power. For example, according to currentresults, the annual amount of sunny days is around 50% of the days, meaning less than 70% clouds. The results of solar panel A efficiency was not reasonable or practical, at 135% efficiency, therefore the efficiency of the lab was given at 17%. The calculated amount of solar panels for a sunny condition, using a 17% efficiency, takes 48.75 meters squared to generate 33.15 kilowatt-hours of power per day in 6 hours, which is about 525 feet squared. According to aei, the average square footage of a house is 2679 feet square. The solar panel is a practical application to fit on a person 's roof and generate enough for a typical columbus resident. The investment would reduce the amount of fossil fuel emitted gases in the air, and create a cleaner energy substitute. According to solar-is-future, an average lifespan of a solar system is around 20 years. The installation of solar panels in the city of Columbus is more of a long term investment to our in building a community of clean energy, and the solar panels are capable of generating enough power for an average
