Six days ago, on the morning of December 7, 1941 thousands of Japanese fighter planes attacked at Honolulu, Hawaii at the American Naval base by Pearl Harbor. The attack on us, the Americans, only lasted two hours, but the damage was significant. The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 American naval ships and over 300 airplanes. Many lives were lost, almost 2,000 people were killed and more than 1,000 wounded. President Franklin D. Roosevelt just declared war on Japan. The effect of that now is that Japan’s allies, Germany and Italy, decided to declare war on us. We’ve been trying to avoid war but now we are forced to join World War 2.
