The 400% increase in participants who don’t feel stress in the math classroom after the action implementation shows me the impact of removing a grade. I enjoyed seeing students being able to focus during assessments and not squirming in the chair and asking questions on how to complete a particular task. When the students were presented with a task that they were not real comfortable with or did not understand proficiently the ability to remain focused and give an honest effort was still present. On days that the students were assessed they came into the classroom with the same energy level as on the days when they knew that an assessment would not be completed.

Some students at the beginning of the year have a more difficult time with time management than others. Also, not having one classroom desk that already has everything needed for class will result in students forgetting materials. The start of the school year was the first time for this group of students that they were expected to change from one classroom to another without being led by a teacher, as well as needing to keep all material for each class in a locker. Combine that with the natural tendency to be social as often as possible, four minutes to be into the next classroom with all of the needed material can be difficult. I believe that the actions implemented within this study led to increased student performance, specifically in the areas of personal attitudes and standard proficiency. Students with varying rates of knowledge acquisition and with different abilities to retain information were able to demonstrate proficiency, and even mastery, most of the time throughout the study. Also, student attitudes were impacted from the implemented actions. Feelings of being free of stress while completing an assessment to actually enjoying being assessed over math standards speaks to the success of abolishing the grading scale. Being proficient or achieving mastery will most likely be experienced by the masses and not the few when students have the desire to learn, have a positive self-image of being a mathematician, and want to demonstrate understanding of material. The medical field has the belief that an implemented action should at the very least Do No Harm. I believe this study definitely accomplished that goal and, more importantly, positively impacted the
