The first presentation was about what makes a nurse and the factors that influence the career choice. I found this presentation very interesting because I often find that my peers and I all have different views on why we chose nursing and for some our feelings have changed as we move through the program. The speaker stated that prior volunteer work, an intense desire to help others and wanting to empower yourself and others, were all factors that inclined participants of the study to choose this career path. Working through the SURI program, at West Chester University, they distributed a survey on D2L, which used a cross-sectional design. Overall, it was determined that the desire to help others was the number one factor when it came to choosing this career path. The second presentation was about aerobic capacity after a bilateral total knee replacement. This research was carried out by performing an assessment of the patient’s activities of daily living and doing a graded exercise test before and after the surgery occurred. I found this presentation very interesting because originally I was an athletic training major. The third presentation was a research study about the GPAs of students who use the student recreation center often. This presentation intrigued me because I try to make it to the gym every chance I get! The conclusion was that students who attended the recreation center
