The Effect Of Lady Macbeth's Voice

Improved Essays
You could hear the echoes of her cries as she looked down at her hands to see the guilt and regret written on her hands. The version of Rupert Goold is more affect in representing Shakespeare’s words by tone and the delivery of lines. In Polanski’s version Lady Macbeth’s voice is very eerie and sad sounding, almost like a ghostly moan. It gives the effects that she’s guilty, sad and sleeping. Where’s in Goold’s version Lady Macbeth has lots of variety in her tone. For example when she goes from saying “Out damned spot.” to saying “ The thane of Fife had a wife.” Shows how her tone went from fear to sadness. Too add on her voice is more expressive and provokes more emotions from the audience such as when she cries at the “smell of blood”. This

When I visualize, I try to capture,in images this time, those half etched thoughts, those unformed silences, those vaguely understood swirls of emotions entangled with and undifferentiated from the chaotic words that flash and disappear. An image, that has never been a word before except vaguely, while it was evolving in the mind, or, a word that has been an image only in the same conditions, stands by itself as the first representation of a reality(or fantasy) that has till then seen only the world of the mind from which it evolved. It is individualistic, unique and beyond judgement , like a new born baby.…

    1. The person that is saying the quote here is Macbeth and he is talking to Angus and Ross. As Macbeth still thinks that the current Thane of Cawdor at the time was alive, he asks Angus and Ross why he was named the Thane of Cawdor. There are numerous literary devices associated with this quote with the obvious being the use of metaphor; however, more specifically, metonymy is used since the “robes” can be related with the Thane. Alliteration is also used with the first words “The” and “Thane”.…

In William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth’s communication changes dramatically over the course of the play from humble and respectful, to direct and careless, to completely arrogant and foolish. Notably when Macbeth first converses with King Duncan he speaks humbly and respectably. Macbeth humbly says, “The service and loyalty I owe In doing it pays itself” (1:4:23-24). As Macbeth first meets with the King, he speaks to the King with only a great deal of respect. Macbeth’s words express a sense of modesty that he currently embodies.…

Lady Macbeth’s brutal and conniving personality provides a great contrast to what is normally thought to be the “gentler sex” and allows the reader to observe the great lengths she takes in order to inspire her husband to do horrible actions seemingly by his own accord. Her call for the spirits to “unsex me here, / And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full / Of direst cruelty!” shows her dedication to the cause of her husband’s ambition and her belief that she must renounce her womanhood in order to plan and perform these dastardly deeds, which she knows her husband will be too nice to perform (Shakespeare 1.5.42-4). Lady Macbeth’s indirect influence on Macbeth’s actions is especially notable in the latter portion of the play in which he seems to singlehandedly commit brutal acts. These independent acts, however, were only made possible and necessary for Macbeth after her instigation of the regicide. This indirect influence concurs with the ancient stereotype of women as manipulative and tempting characters, which she evidently embodies through her plotting and ability to make others do work for her.…

Before and during the murder Lady Macbeth’s character changes from persuasive, manipulative and dominant to just dominant, but Macbeth’s character also changes but in a unique way since his character changes from a person who relies on others to decide for him to a remorseful person. Lady Macbeth’s character before the murder is persuasive and manipulative. Evidence for this can be found when Lady Macbeth is talking to Macbeth and she tries to make him decide on whether to kill Duncan or not by saying ‘I dare not wait upon I would’ or for him to ‘live a coward'. In addition to her being persuasive, it also seems as if she may be an impatient person, as she said, ‘I dare not wait’.…
