The Effect Of Colonists On Native Americans

Throughout history, there have been hundreds of documented instances in which colonists have manipulated Native Americans. Europeans especially have taken their homes, land, families, and overall livelihood. When diseases were introduced to the natives, they were dismissed by the unflinching settlers, influencing my belief that introducing disease was the Europeans method of genocide.
Overall, an estimated eight million Indians, roughly a third of the entire native population, died of smallpox at the hand of the Europeans (p 25). Even if there was no intention to kill, medical assistance was never offered to the helpless families. Despite the lack of possible medical advancements, some help could have been provided, but uncaring settlers continued
