range with the acceptable macronutrient distribution ranges (AMDR). For protein my percentage was 18% and the AMDR recommendation is 10%-35%. My carbohydrate intake was also within range at 54% (the AMDR is 45%-65%). Finally my total fat percentage was in the AMDR range of 20%-35% at 28%. Even though my percentages were within range, my calorie intake was severely lacking. According to the calorie assessment, I should consume 2064 calories to maintain my current weight. However, my average intake for the three days was 941 calories. This is not good considering my average expenditure was 2138 calories. This means I will lose weight because I am not consuming near enough energy. I was also below range for each macronutrient. This could lead …show more content…
I learned that my eating habits, not just the three days I recorded, need to be improved. I am under on most of my nutrients which can and will lead to cardiovascular diseases. This is not good considering my family history of high cholesterol. A mix of high cholesterol and increased cardiovascular disease due to diet is a cocktail for some sort of issue in the future. This project also proved to me that even though I work out a lot, my diet is incredibly important. I work out at least one and a half hours, six days a week and my cholesterol is still not in the optimal range. The only supplement I am taking is vitamin D to increase my bone strength as my autoimmune disease affects them. This, too, seems appropriate since I was 98% deficient in my diet. For me to prevent chronic diseases if I ever had a desk job would be to really focus in on my diet and make sure I continue to be as active as I am now. I would skip the unhealthy, processed food, eat more of the correct portions according to MyPlate and work out at least nine hours a week. As I have mentioned throughout the entirety of this report, I did not truly realize the importance of nutrition. I learned how important it is to eat a varied diet, and how important it is to pay attention to the food we eat. The fresher the better in my

In my case, that data is as follows: Height: 5 feet 5 inches Age: 44 Gender: Female Weight: 173 BMI: 28.8 Activity Level: Active The next step in the process is to plug into the program your food and drink intake for a day, over a number of days, essentially tracking your diet. That information is then shown in a number of different reports meant to analyze your diet and the related nutritional values, allowing you to see your strengths and weaknesses, and make any necessary corrections in an effort to improve your diet/health. One of the first reports I looked into was “Intake vs. Goals.” This report analyzes the intake of nutrients under the categories of: Energy, Vitamins & Minerals, and compares them to the personalized DRI’s applied to my profile.…

The calculated goal intake for carbohydrates in anywhere in the range of 1134-1639 calories, and my intake was 1087 calories. My value could be low possibly from the fact that I don’t normally eat large entrees that are high in carbohydrate content (i.e. pasta dishes etc) and would rather balance my meals with fruits, vegetables, and some sort of protein source. My other values for protein and fat intake were in range, with protein being more balanced, and my fat intake being on the higher end of the scale. The higher amounts of fats in my diet was alluded to in my calories and fat report, because my fat intake was equating to be 35% of my caloric intake, which is the limit of the range. If my fat intake increases by 68 calories or 7.5 grams, then this will put my intake above the goal range.…

For me, the numbers were not all that shocking to me. As someone who does meal prepping, I am very conscious of what I eat because it will effect my results in and out of the gym. So to begin with, I did pretty well when it came to vitamins and minerals. I was shocked to find out that my vitamin C came out to 352% of my daily value! Coming in at second is my vitamin B12 at 250%.…

I plan to change my behavior by resolving to eat significantly less sugar than I currently do. On Lab 1.2, my nutrition score was two out of ten (2/10). I eat few fruits and vegetables, I never consider how many saturated or trans fats I consume and I eat copious amounts of sugar on a daily basis. The only reason I achieved a score of two is because I rarely skip meals, preferring to eat continuously. Despite these bad habits, I am not overweight.…

I also realized that I was eating very little vegetables in my diet and I should incorporate more vegetables and a little more dairy in my diet to reach a proper amount of dairy and vegetables for my age, height, and weight.…

Over the course of this class, I have learned many new things about diet, health, and proper nutrition for a long life. Without learning these very important things, I may have just continued on my old diet, which was not healthy in the least. I have now seen a real proper diet, complete with all different food groups and everything in between. I am grateful for this class, because otherwise, I would probably still have that unhealthy diet. Nutrition taught me a lot, and I am ready now to follow all that it taught me, and I think I have the knowledge now to teach the people around me about it too.…
