It is important for employers and employees to know that the EEOC has an outreach program available to provide information and to clarify the requirements of the employer and the employee. The EEOC’s outreach program includes speakers, seminars, booths, displays, a website and interactive workshops (Folsom, 2011). The EEOC is a great resource for employers and employees to use if additional information on properly addressing a potential mental illness in the workplace is needed. In addition to using the EEOC as a resource, employers and employees need to understand and reference the Americans with Disability Act as this Act is often enforced by the EEOC.
