After the plague passed the combat of thirty which was a chivalrous event between england and france where both sides would send 30 soldiers into battle. France won the battle and england was forced to pay tribute. in the 1350 after the the black death the black prince invaded france intending of terrorizing citizens, a witness of that time said “there was no town he did not lay waste to”. To counter this king john raised a larger army and attacked englands. england was able to retreat by capturing king john and pricing his ransom at 2 million, however king john raised it to four million with the first treaty of london in 1358. The treaty allowed england to gain a large amount of territory, and released king john. However when france could no longer pay england, they sent several nobles and peasants to take king john's place in the second treaty of paris. When john’s son who was one of the captive’s sent to england escaped king john returned to captivity where he eventually died, because french peasants were mistreated a revolt began lead by william kale and were defeated in the battle of mello where english forces help solidify the win in
