Reviewing the diverse educational theories of leadership, Shields (2011) describes three theories (transactional, transformational, and transformative), of which transformational leadership will be the focus of today’s writing. The philosophy of transformational leadership according to Leithwood (2010) there are four dimensions relating to setting directions, developing people, redesigning the organization, and managing the instructional program (Shields, 2011). When observing transformational leadership, Shields (2011) stated may inspire larger prominence on effective schoolwide improvement, but be less focused on external realities relating to students and parents. Transformational leadership has the most prospect to work when the organization and society are concurrent with one another (Shields, 2011).
How the styles impact organizations? Leaders that utilize transformational skills focus on improving organizational qualities, dimensions, and effectiveness to change the work environment for their staff

When comparing transformative and transformational leadership, the reshaping of knowledge and belief structures aren’t necessarily areas of focus in transformational leaders (Shields, 2011). With transformational leadership, the leader focus largely on what happens with the organization using reform methods to improve the educational setting overall. The three building blocks of transformational leaders uses the concept according to Bates (1996) in a transformative manner, but the leader reshape and focus the corporate culture within the organization (Shields, 2011).
