The instructors encounter many challenges when it came to having a positive recall information for several student. From incorrect phone numbers to incorrect home of address. In a thriving city like New York it is expected that people move often because of the unregulated rent control. Having the new instructors go out and meet with the students and family made a great impact not only in the students and their family members but on the instructors as well. If the instructor comes from a privilege upbringings, it would be difficult to relate to the student that lives in poverty, the instructors need to see with their own eyes the struggles and barriers the student can possibly be face with. These students are required to maintain the same curriculum as the rest of the students in the school but they are also tasked with extra responsibilities and are push harder than the average student, GPA and SAT scores are higher than other schools, they are also thought to work as a unit, to be leaders, and run teams. Unity is a key factor during the drills, they are thought to rely on one another lead and know when to delegate. Each JROTC student is thought to respect one another, the institution, and the uniform they wear, but they are not required to join any branch of service. With all the responsibility they are task with these students are exposed to more supervisory roles and well prepared to face real life situations than the average high school
