Devastating Earthquake in Haiti 2010 Haiti is considered one of the poorest countries in the world. However, now imagine the fear of living a horrible nightmare, and then went you wake up the horrible nightmare comes true, even worse than you dreamed. That was the real situation for more than three million people, in one of the poorest countries. That case occurred in Haiti. In January, 2010 a devastating earthquake of 7.0 magnitude on the Richter scale, overwhelmed this country and directly affected almost the whole population in Haiti. This event is considered as the worst earthquake in Haiti, and one of the worst human catastrophes, in the poorest country of the American Continent. The 2010 earthquake had many effects such as a big human impact, contamination or bad sanitation, and it seriously damaged the infrastructure of the whole country, that provoked a big descent in the economy. The 2010 earthquake directly affected a great part of the Haitian population. The first effect applies to the people in the country, according to Haiti Post Disasters Needs Assessment, which is an identity made by the Government of the Republic of Haiti. They wrote an article about the damage in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, they declare that “Over 220,000 people lost their lives and over 300,000 were injured. Thousands of people are in need of psychological support or psychosocial supervision” (5). That means that Haitians were visibly affected with painful results. Many…
